I am an out of network provider and do not accept insurance. Why? Ultimately, to provide more flexible, personalized, high-quality treatment for my clients with increased confidentiality.

Some benefits of doing therapy with an out of network provider:

• Increased confidentiality: Insurance companies require information about your mental health care that becomes part of your permanent medical health record. Working with an Out of Network provider ensures that whatever is discussed in the therapy room, stays in the therapy room.

• No unnecessary diagnosis: Insurance companies require in-network clinicians to provide a diagnosis for their clients - regardless if the client actually needs a diagnosis or not. Working with an Out of Network provider ensures that you are not receiving unnecessary diagnosis that may have implications for your future.

• Increased treatment autonomy: Insurance companies have a specific list of providers that you can choose from. With an Out of Network provider, YOU get to choose which clinician you want to work with and the clinician has more flexibility with providing personalized care based on your specific needs.

If you are wanting to use your insurance and still work with me, I can provide you with a Superbill for you to give directly to your insurance company for reimbursement. For sake of transparency, if you were to request a Superbill, I would need to give you a diagnosis. If you are seeing me for couples therapy, we would need to identify a "primary patient" and they would receive the diagnosis and the Superbill would be filed under their name. If you are wanting to use your out of network benefits, I recommend calling your insurance company first and asking what benefits you have before scheduling a session with me!
